What is TMJ?

You may have heard the term TMJ used before. Well, what is TMJ? TMJ is something we now call TMD. It stands for temporomandibular disorder. TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint, which, if that is not working correctly, it gives you the disorder. Now, does that make sense? Probably not. But TMJ is pain in your jaw. It’s pain in your head, it’s pain in your neck. It can mean many different things for many different people.
That’s why it’s so confusing. So if you have some funny aches and pains, you’re not sure where it comes from, your jaw pops and clicks. You have migraines. If something feels a little bit missed, maybe it’s what we call TMD. Maybe it’s something else.
So when you hear that term, don’t be baffled. Just think, maybe that’s me. Maybe you know somebody that is restless.
