What Types of Dental Fillings Do You Offer?

You know, a question that does not come up as much it used to be is what about these old silver black fillings? Well, in our office, I haven’t done one of those in over 30 years, so that’s never an issue. We use composite bonding for that. You can think of an old silver filling like filling a pothole. It just fills in a hole. It doesn’t add any strength to the tooth, where modern bonded composite fillings hold the tooth together, strengthen it, and of course, they look wonderful. So if you have some old, worn out fillings, maybe composite bonded fillings are appropriate for you. So give us a call, and we’ll be glad to discuss it with you.

    About John Hopkins, DDS

    After attending Tulane University and receiving his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mississippi in 1977, Dr. Hopkins graduated from the prestigious Emory University School of Dentistry in Atlanta, Georgia.

    At Emory, Dr. Hopkins studied directly under Dr. Ronald Goldstein, considered the father of modern aesthetic dentistry.

    Following graduation from Emory in 1981, Dr. Hopkins joined an esteemed multi-specialty practice in Palm Beach, Florida, where he honed his skills in numerous dental specialties: endodontics, periodontics, oral surgery and aesthetics.

    While in Florida, Dr. Hopkins also completed the continuum at the Pankey Institute, the most renowned dental education institute in the world.
